(The tribe of) A'ad denied the messengers (of Allah). 123 Their brother Hud asked them, "Why do you not have fear of God? 124 I am for you a faithful Messenger, 125 "So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. 126 And I ask of you no wage therefor; my wage is the concern only of the Lord of the Worlds. 127 Do you build on every height a monument? Vain is it that you do: 128 And do you take to yourselves underground reservoirs, in order to live for ever! 129 And if ye seize by force, seize ye as tyrants? 130 Rather keep your duty to Allah, and obey me. 131 fear Him who has aided you with all that you know -- 132 Hath aided you with cattle and sons. 133 And gardens and springs. 134 "Verily, I fear for you the torment of a Great Day." 135 They said: "It is the same to us if you warn us or do not warn. 136 This has been happening all along. 137 and we shall never be punished' 138 And they belied him; so We destroyed them. Verily herein is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 139 Verily your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Most Compassionate. 140
