The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
When the sun is wound up; 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 And when the mountains are driven. 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 And when the seas are set on fire, 6 And when the souls are paired. 7 questions are asked about the baby girls buried alive, 8 for what offence was she killed? 9 And when the books are spread, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped, 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 And when the Garden is brought nigh, 13 [on that Day] every human being will come to know what he has prepared [for himself]. 14 No indeed; I swear by the alternating stars 15 Moving swiftly and hiding themselves, 16 and the night that falls, 17 and the morning when it extends, 18 Verily it is a Word brought by a messenger honoured, 19 endowed with power and held in honour by the Lord of the Throne -- 20 Obeyed and worthy there of trust. 21 Nor is your companion distracted. 22 He had surely seen Him on the clear horizon. 23 And Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen. 24 And it is not the word of an accursed Satan; 25 So where are you going? 26 This is naught else than a reminder unto creation, 27 (With profit) to whoever among you wills to go straight: 28 And you will not, unless (it be) that Allah wills, the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 29
