And mention in the Book [the story of] Abraham. Indeed, he was a man of truth and a prophet. 41 When he said to his father: "O my father! Why do you worship that which hears not, sees not and cannot avail you in anything? 42 O my father, to me has come such knowledge as never came to you. So follow me that I may show you the right path. 43 Father, serve not Satan; surely Satan is a rebel against the All-merciful. 44 Father, I fear that some chastisement from the All-merciful will smite thee, so that thou becomest a friend to Satan. 45 He said: Rejectest thou my gods, O Abraham? If thou cease not, I shall surely stone thee. Depart from me a long while! 46 He said, “Stop it – peace be upon you; I shall seek forgiveness for you from my Lord; indeed He is very kind to me.” 47 Now I will go apart from you and that you call upon, apart from God; I will call upon my Lord, and haply I shall not be, in calling upon my Lord, unprosperous. 48 So when he turned away from them and those they worshipped, other than Allah, We gave him Isaac and Jacob. Each of them We made a Prophet, 49 And We gave them Our mercy, and assigned for them a true and high repute. 50
