The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 About the great event, 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
