And the chiefs of his people, who disbelieved and denied the Meeting in the Hereafter, and on whom We had bestowed the good things of this life, said: "He is no more than a man like yourselves: he eats of that of which ye eat, and drinks of what ye drink. 33 If you follow a mortal like yourselves you will certainly be lost. 34 "Does he promise that when ye die and become dust and bones, ye shall be brought forth (again)? 35 ۞ Begone, begone, with that which ye are promised! 36 There is nothing but our present life; we die, and we live, and we shall not be resurrected. 37 "He is only a man who has invented a lie against Allah, but we are not going to believe in him." 38 He said, “My Lord! Help me as they deny me.” 39 [And God] would say: "After a little while they will surely be smitten with remorse!" 40 So the (Awful) Cry overtook them rightfully, and We made them like as wreckage (that a torrent hurleth). A far removal for wrongdoing folk! 41 Then, after them, We created other generations. 42 No community can anticipate their term, nor can they lay behind. 43 We then sent our Noble Messengers, one after another; whenever a nation’s Noble Messenger came to it they denied him, We therefore united the succeeding with the old, and made them history; so far removed be the people who do not believe! 44 Thereafter We sent Musa and his brother Harun with Our signs and an authority manifest. 45 to Pharaoh and his Council, but they were very proud, and they were a tyrannical nation. 46 And said: "Should we believe in two men like yourselves, whose people are our subjects?" 47 So they belied them, and they were among the destroyed. 48 And We gave Moses the Book, in order that they might receive guidance. 49 And We made the son of Maryam and his mother a sign; and We sheltered the twain on a height: a quiet abode and running water. 50
