And assuredly Nuh cried unto us; and We are the Best of answerers! 75 We delivered him and his household from the great calamity; 76 And, his progeny, them We made the survivors (i.e. Shem, Ham and Japheth). 77 And We left (this blessing) for him among generations to come in later times: 78 "Peace be upon Noah throughout all the worlds!" 79 Verily, thus We reward the Muhsinun (good-doers - see V. 2:112). 80 he was truly one of Our faithful servants. 81 Afterwards We drowned the others. 82 ۞ And, verily, among those who followed his [Nuh's (Noah)] way (Islamic Monotheism) was Ibrahim (Abraham). 83 when he came unto his Lord with a pure heart, 84 Behold! he said to his father and to his people, "What is that which ye worship? 85 Is it a falsehood - gods beside Allah - that ye desire? 86 What think you then of the Lord of all Being?' 87 He cast a glance at the stars 88 And said, "I am sick," 89 And they turned their backs on him and went away. (The pagans thought he would transmit the disease). 90 Then he turned to their gods, and said, 'What do you eat? 91 What ails you, that you speak not?' 92 He struck them with his right hand. 93 Then came the others to him hastening. 94 Abraham said to them: “Do you worship what you yourselves have carved with your own hands 95 the while it is God who has created you and all your handiwork?" 96 They said: "Build for him a building (it is said that the building was like a furnace) and throw him into the blazing fire!" 97 And they desired a war against him, but We brought them low. 98 And he said (after his rescue from the fire): "Verily, I am going to my Lord. He will guide me!" 99 My Lord, grant me [a child] from among the righteous." 100 Wherefore We gave him the glad tidings of a boy gentle. 101 And when he attained to working with him, he said: O my son! surely I have seen in a dream that I should sacrifice you; consider then what you see. He said: O my father! do what you are commanded; if Allah please, you will find me of the patient ones. 102 So when they had both submitted their wills (to Allah), and he had laid him prostrate on his forehead (for sacrifice), 103 And We called out to him: "O Abraham! 104 thou hast confirmed the vision; even so We recompense the good-doers. 105 That was indeed a trying test. 106 So, We ransomed him with a mighty sacrifice, 107 And We kept his praise among the latter generations. 108 Peace be with Abraham. 109 Thus indeed do We reward those who do right. 110 for he was truly one of our believing servants. 111 Then We gave him the good tidings of Isaac, a Prophet, one of the righteous. 112 We had blessed him and Isaac. Some of their offspring were righteous and others were openly unjust to themselves. 113
