In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Read (Prophet Muhammad) in the Name of your Lord who created, 1 created Man of a blood-clot. 2 Recite! Your Lord is the most Honorable One, 3 who has taught [man] the use of the pen 4 Taught man what he knew not. 5 Nay, surely man transgresses; 6 because he thinks that he is independent. 7 Verily, to thy Lord is the return (of all). 8 What thinkest thou? He who forbids 9 A slave when he prayeth? 10 Hast thou considered whether he is on the right way, 11 or is concerned with God-consciousness? 12 Seest thou if he denies (Truth) and turns away? 13 Does he not know that Allah sees? 14 Nay! If he (Abu Jahl) ceases not, We will catch him by the forelock, 15 his lying, sinful forelock. 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We also shall call the infernal guards. 18 Nay! (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him))! Do not obey him (Abu Jahl). Fall prostrate and draw near to Allah! ۩ 19
