Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]? 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 Labouring (hard), weary,- 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 Made to drink water from the boiling hot spring. 5 no food for them except thorny plants 6 Which neither nourishes nor avails against hunger. 7 [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure. 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 They will be in a lofty Garden 10 Where they hear no idle speech, 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 and couches raised high, 13 and prepared goblets, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 and how the earth is spread out? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 But if any turn away and reject Allah,- 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26
