And certainly Haroun had said to them before: O my people! you are only tried by it, and surely your Lord is the Beneficent Allah, therefore follow me and obey my order. 90 They replied: 'We will not stop; we will cling to it until Moses returns to us.' 91 Moses said, 'What prevented thee, Aaron, when thou sawest them in error, 92 so that thou didst not follow after me? Didst thou then disobey my commandment?' 93 He [Harun (Aaron)] said: "O son of my mother! Seize (me) not by my beard, nor by my head! Verily, I feared lest you should say: 'You have caused a division among the Children of Israel, and you have not respected my word!' " 94 [Moses] said, "And what is your case, O Samiri?" 95 He replied: "I saw what they saw not: so I took a handful (of dust) from the footprint of the Messenger, and threw it (into the calf): thus did my soul suggest to me." 96 'Begone! Your lot in this life is to cry: "untouchable!' said he (Moses). 'An appointment awaits you that you cannot fail to keep. Look at your god which you clung to indeed we will burn it and scatter its ashes upon the sea' 97 Your only deity is God - He save whom there is no deity, [and who] embraces all things within His knowledge!" 98 Thus, [O Muhammad], We relate to you from the news of what has preceded. And We have certainly given you from Us the Qur'an. 99 Whoever turns away from it, will bear a burden on the Day of Resurrection. 100 therein abiding forever; how evil upon the Day of Resurrection that burden for them! 101 The Day when the Trumpet will be sounded: that Day, We shall gather the sinful, blear-eyed (with terror). 102 and they shall murmur to one another, "You stayed only ten days on the earth" -- 103 We know very well what they will say, when the best among them in knowledge and wisdom will say: "You stayed no longer than a day!" 104
