The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ The Merciful One 1 Hath taught the Qur'an. 2 Has created Prophet Mohammed (peace and blessings be upon him) as the soul of mankind. 3 Taught him the mode of expression. 4 [At His behest] the sun and the moon run their appointed courses; 5 And the herbs (or stars) and the trees both prostrate. 6 And the sky He hath uplifted; and He hath set the measure, 7 That you may not be inordinate in respect of the measure. 8 And keep up the balance with equity and do not make the measure deficient. 9 It is He Who has spread out the earth for (His) creatures: 10 Therein is fruit and palm trees having sheaths [of dates] 11 Grain with husk, and fragrant grasses. 12 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 13 He created man from clay like [that of] pottery. 14 whereas the invisible beings He has created out of a confusing flame of fire. 15 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 16 (He is) Lord of the two Easts and Lord of the two Wests: 17 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 18 He released the two seas, meeting [side by side]; 19 With an interstice between them which they cannot cross. 20 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 21 Out of them come Pearls and Coral: 22 Which, of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 23 And His are the ships reared aloft in the sea like mountains. 24 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 25
