The people of Lot rejected the Messengers, branding them liars. 160 When their brother Lot said to them: 'Will you not be cautious? 161 I am for you a faithful Messenger, 162 So fear God and listen to me. 163 "No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the lord of the Worlds. 164 What, do you come to the males of the world, 165 and leave your wives whom your Lord has created for you? No, but you are a transgressing nation' 166 'Lot' they replied, 'if you do not desist, you shall be thrown out' 167 He said: Surely I am of those who utterly abhor your doing; 168 My Lord, deliver me and my family from their wicked deeds." 169 Thereupon We saved him and all his household 170 except an old woman who remained behind. 171 then We destroyed the others, 172 We rained down on them a shower (of brimstone): and evil was the shower on those who were admonished (but heeded not)! 173 In this [story,] behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 174 And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful. 175
