Yet Aaron had aforetime said to them, 'My people, you have been tempted by this thing, no more; surety your Lord is the All-merciful; therefore follow me, and obey my commandment!' 90 They said "So long as Moses does not come back we are not going to give it up, and we will remain devoted to it." 91 He (Moses) said to Aaron: 'When you saw them in error, what prevented you, 92 From following me? Then have you disobeyed my order?" 93 He said, “O son of my mother, do not clutch my beard nor the hair on my head; I feared that you may say, ‘You have caused a division among the Descendants of Israel and did not wait for my advice.’” 94 Moses said, "What was the matter with you, Samiri?" 95 (Samiri) said: "I saw what they saw not, so I took a handful (of dust) from the hoof print of the messenger [Jibrael's (Gabriel) horse] and threw it [into the fire in which were put the ornaments of the Fir'aun's (Pharaoh) people, or into the calf]. Thus my inner-self suggested to me." 96 [Moses] said, "Then go. And indeed, it is [decreed] for you in [this] life to say, 'No contact.' And indeed, you have an appointment [in the Hereafter] you will not fail to keep. And look at your 'god' to which you remained devoted. We will surely burn it and blow it into the sea with a blast. 97 Your Lord is the One who is the only God and He has the knowledge of all things. 98 Thus relate We unto thee (Muhammad) some tidings of that which happened of old, and We have given thee from Our presence a reminder. 99 If any do turn away therefrom, verily they will bear a burden on the Day of judgment; 100 Abiding under it - an evil burden for them on the Day of Resurrection, 101 The Day the Horn will be blown. And We will gather the criminals, that Day, blue-eyed. 102 In whispers will they speak to each other (saying): "You stayed not longer than ten (days)." 103 We know well what they will say to one another: We also know that even the most cautious in his estimate will say: "You lived in the world no more than a day." 104
