And (remember) when your Lord called Musa (Moses) (saying): "Go to the people who are Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doing), 10 “The nation of Firaun; will they not fear?” 11 He replied, "Lord, I am afraid that they will call me a liar. 12 And my breast straiteneth, and my tongue moveth not quickly: so send for Harun. 13 And they have a crime against me, so I fear that they shall slay me. 14 He said: Nay, verily. So go ye twain with Our tokens. Lo! We shall be with you, Hearing. 15 And go, both of you, unto Pharaoh and say, 'Behold, we bear a message from the Sustainer of all the worlds: 16 Let the children of Israel go with us!'" 17 He (Pharaoh) said (to Moses): 'Did We not bring you up when you were a child? And have you not spent years of your life amongst us? 18 And [then] you did your deed which you did, and you were of the ungrateful." 19 Moses said, "I did do it and I made a mistake. 20 Then I fled from you when I feared you, and my Lord vouchsafed me a command and appointed me (of the number) of those sent (by Him). 21 And [as for] that favour of which thou so tauntingly remindest me - [was it not] due to thy having enslaved the children of Israel?" 22 Pharaoh said, "What is this: Lord of the Universe?" 23 (Moses) said: Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, if ye had but sure belief. 24 Said [Pharaoh] unto those around him: "Did you hear [what he said]?" 25 (Moses continued): "Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers before you." 26 Pharaoh said to the audience: "This Messenger of yours who has been sent to you is simply mad." 27 Moses continued: "(He is) the Lord of the east and the west, and all between them. If you only had any understanding!" 28 (Pharaoh) said: "If thou dost put forward any god other than me, I will certainly put thee in prison!" 29 He said: even though I bring unto thee something manifest? 30 (The Pharaoh) said: "Then bring it, if you speak the truth." 31 Moses threw his staff and suddenly it became a serpent. 32 And he drew out his hand, and behold, it was white to all beholders! 33
