And a sign unto them is the dead land. We quicken it and thereout We bring forth grain, so that thereof they eat. 33 and produced therein grains from which they eat and established therein gardens of palms trees and vineyards and have made streams flow therein 34 So that they may eat of the fruit thereof, and their hands made it not. Will they not, then, give thanks? 35 Exaltations to Him who created pairs of all the things the earth produces and of themselves, and that of which they have no knowledge. 36 And a sign unto them is the night. We draw off the day therefrom, and lo! they are darkened. 37 And the sun runs [on course] toward its stopping point. That is the determination of the Exalted in Might, the Knowing. 38 We have determined the stations of the moon, so that (after its wanderings) it returns as a dried up inflorescent spike of dates. 39 It is not permitted to the Sun to catch up the Moon, nor can the Night outstrip the Day: Each (just) swims along in (its own) orbit (according to Law). 40 how We carried them and their offspring inside the laden Ark 41 And We have created for them of the like thereunto, so on them they ride. 42 Had We wanted, We could have drowned them and nothing would have been able to help or rescue them 43 unless it be by an act of mercy from Us and a grant of life for a [further span of] time. 44 When it is said to them: 'Have fear of that which is before you and behind you in order that you find mercy' 45 and whenever a revelation out of their Lord's revelations comes to them, they ignore it. 46 And when it is said unto them: Spend of that wherewith Allah hath provided you, those who disbelieve say unto those who believe: Shall we feed those whom Allah, if He willed, would feed? Ye are in naught else than error manifest. 47 And they add, "When is this promise [of resurrection] to be fulfilled? [Answer this] if you are men of truth!" 48 They await not but one shout, which shall lay hold of them while they are yet wrangling. 49 And they will not be able to make a disposition, nor to their family they return. 50
