The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 Who will be honoured 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 And a few from the latter. 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 And wide eyed houris 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruits numberless, 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 and raised couches 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 And have made them virgins. 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 For the fellows on the right hand. 38
