The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sunlight is rolled up. 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 And when the mountains shall made to pass away; 3 when the pregnant camels shall be neglected, 4 And when the wild beasts are herded together, 5 and when the seas boil over, 6 And when souls are reunited, 7 and when the girl-child that was buried alive is made to ask 8 For what crime she was killed; 9 And when the written pages of deeds (good and bad) of every person shall be laid open; 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped, 11 And when Hellfire is set ablaze 12 And when the garden is brought nigh, 13 [then] each soul shall know what it has put forward. 14 BUT NAY! I call to witness the revolving stars, 15 That run their course (and) hide themselves, 16 And by the night as it closes in 17 The rising dawn, 18 that the Quran is the word of the honorable angelic, mighty Messenger 19 one mighty and held in honour with the Lord of the Throne; 20 obeyed by (all creatures) and faithful to His trust. 21 Your companion (Muhammad) does not suffer from any mental illness 22 And without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon. 23 And this Prophet is not miserly upon the hidden. (Allah gave the knowledge of the hidden to the Holy Prophet – peace and blessings be upon him.) 24 Nor is this the utterance of a devil worthy to be stoned. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 It is nothing but Good Counsel for everyone in the world, 27 for everyone of you who wishes to follow the Straight Way; 28 And ye will not, unless (it be) that Allah willeth, the Lord of Creation. 29
