Fir'awn said unto the chiefs around him: verily this is a magician knowing. 34 Who wants to drive you out of your land by his sorcery. Now what do you advise?" 35 They said: "Put him and his brother off awhile, and send summoners to the cities to gather 36 Who shall bring unto thee every knowing wizard. 37 So the sorcerers were gathered on the appointed day 38 And it was said unto the people: are ye going to assemble. 39 The people said, “Perhaps we may follow the magicians if they are victorious.” 40 Then, when the sorcerers came, they said to Pharaoh, 'Shall we indeed have a wage, if we should be the victors?' 41 He said, 'Yes indeed; and you shall then be among the near-stationed.' 42 Musa (Moses) said to them: "Throw what you are going to throw!" 43 So they cast down their ropes and staffs saying, "By the honor of the Pharaoh we shall certainly become the winners". 44 Therefore Moosa put forth his staff – so it immediately began swallowing all their fabrications. 45 The magicians therefore fell down prostrate. 46 Crying: We believe in the Lord of the Worlds, 47 The Lord of Musa and Haroun. 48 Said Firaun, “You accepted faith in him before I permitted you! He is indeed your leader who taught you magic; so now you will come to know; I swear, I will certainly cut off your hands and your feet from alternate sides, and crucify all of you.” 49 They said: "No matter! for us, we shall but return to our Lord! 50 Lo! we ardently hope that our Lord will forgive us our sins because we are the first of the believers. 51
