By the Mount, 1 And [by] a Book inscribed 2 In parchment unrolled. 3 And by oath of the Inhabited House. 4 by the high ceiling (heaven), 5 And the sea set aflame. 6 surely thy Lord's chastisement is about to fall; 7 there is none to avert it. 8 On the day when the heaven will heave with (awful) heaving, 9 And the mountains will move with a visible movement. 10 Woe, then, will be on that Day to the beliers 11 all those who [throughout their lives] but idly played with things vain 12 On the Day when they shall be thrust into Hell with a violent thrust (and shall be told): 13 (And told:) "This is the fire which you denied. 14 "Is this then a fake, or is it ye that do not see? 15 “Enter it – now whether you patiently bear it or are impatient – it is the same for you; for you is a recompense only for what you used to do.” 16 But in the Gardens the righteous shall live in bliss, 17 Rejoicing because of what their Lord gave them, and their Lord saved them from the punishment of the burning fire. 18 "Eat and drink with relish," (they will be told), (as recompense) for what you had done." 19 (They shall be) reclining on couches ranged in rows and We shall wed them to houris (virgins of Paradise) with large wide eyes. 20 And those who believed, and their seed followed them in belief, We shall join their seed with them, and We shall not defraud them of aught of their work; every man shall be pledged for what he earned. 21 We shall provide them in abundance with such fruit and meat as they desire. 22 They will therein snatch from one another a cup; therein will be neither vain babble nor sin. 23 ۞ And there will go round on them youths appointed to attend them as though they were pearls hidden. 24 And one of them turned towards the other, questioning. 25 saying, "We were afraid while in the world. 26 God has been gracious to us and has saved us from the torment of Hell's intense heat -- 27 “Indeed we used to worship Him in our previous life; indeed He only is the Benign, the Most Merciful.” 28
