Then, when the Messengers (the angels) came unto the family of Lout (Lot). 61 He said: "Ye appear to be uncommon folk." 62 They said: "Yea, we have come to thee to accomplish that of which they doubt. 63 "We have brought to thee that which is inevitably due, and assuredly we tell the truth. 64 So set out with your family in a watch of the night, and keep yourself behind them, and no one of you may turn around, and keep going ahead as you have been commanded." 65 And We made known this decree to him, that the root of those (sinners) was to be cut off in the early morning. 66 Then came the people of the city, exulting at the news. 67 He said: Surely these are my guests, therefore do not disgrace me, 68 Have fear of God and do not humiliate me". 69 They replied: "Did we not forbid you again and again to extend hospitality to all and sundry?" 70 [Lout (Lot)] said: "These (the girls of the nation) are my daughters (to marry lawfully), if you must act (so)." 71 [But the angels spoke thus:] "As thou livest, [O Lot, they will not listen to thee:] behold, in their delirium [of lust] they are but blindly stumbling to and fro!" 72 and thereupon the blast [of Our punishment] overtook them at sunrise. 73 And We made the highest part [of the city] its lowest and rained upon them stones of hard clay. 74 There are great Signs in this for those endowed with intelligence. 75 And verily they are on a pathway lasting. 76 Indeed in this are signs for the believers. 77 AND THE DWELLERS of the wooded dales [of Madyan, too,] were inveterate evildoers, 78 So, We took vengeance on them. They are both on an open highway, plain to see. 79
