The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up; 1 And when the stars fall, dispersing, 2 when the mountains shall be set moving, 3 And when the camels big with young are abandoned, 4 when the savage beasts shall be brought together, 5 And when the seas are filled with flame 6 and when all human beings are coupled [with their deeds,] 7 When the female (infant), buried alive, is questioned - 8 such as, "For what crime were they murdered?" 9 when the scrolls shall be unrolled, 10 and when heaven is laid bare, 11 when Hell shall be set blazing, 12 and Paradise brought nigh: 13 (Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward. 14 I do not need to swear by the orbiting 15 that hide, 16 The closing night, 17 and the morning when it extends, 18 That this is indeed the word of an honoured Messenger, 19 who is honored in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 obeyed by (all creatures) and faithful to His trust. 21 Nor is your companion distracted. 22 he indeed saw the message-bearer on the clear horizon; 23 He is not chary of making public what is unknown. 24 Nor is this the utterance of a devil worthy to be stoned. 25 So whither do you stray? 26 This is certainly the guidance for all (jinn and mankind). 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 And ye will not, unless (it be) that Allah willeth, the Lord of Creation. 29
