The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 hearing and obeying its Lord, as it must do; 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 And it unburdens itself of all that is in it, and becomes empty. 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O human, you are working hard towards your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 by the night and all that it envelops; 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding. 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
