۞ And We verily gave Abraham of old his proper course, and We were Aware of him, 51 When he asked his father and his people, "What are these images to which you are so devoted?" 52 They replied: 'We found our fathers worshipping them' 53 He said: 'Truly, you and your fathers are in clear error' 54 They said: "Are you speaking in earnest, or only jesting?" 55 He said, "[No], rather, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth who created them, and I, to that, am of those who testify. 56 "And by Allah, I have a plan for your idols - after ye go away and turn your backs".. 57 So he smashed them up to pieces with the exception of the biggest, so that they may turn to it. 58 They said: Who hath done this to our gods? Surely it must be some evil-doer. 59 Some among them said, “We heard a youth speak ill of them – the one called Ibrahim.” 60 The others said: "Bring him, then, before the eyes of the people that they may see (what will be done to him)." 61 They said: Is it thou who hast done this to our gods, O Abraham? 62 'No' he replied. 'It was their great one amongst them that did it. Ask them, if they are able to speak' 63 So they turned to themselves and said: "Verily, you are the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers)." 64 Then their minds were turned upside down, and they said: "You know well that they do not speak." 65 He said, "Do you, instead of God, worship things that can neither harm nor benefit you?" 66 Fie on you and those you worship besides God! Will you not understand?" 67 They said: "Burn him, and save your gods, if you are men of action." 68 We (Allah) said: "O fire! Be you coolness and safety for Ibrahim (Abraham)!" 69 And they desired a war on him, but We made them the greatest losers. 70 And We delivered him and Lot to the land which We had blessed for the worlds. 71 And We gave him Isaac and Jacob in addition, and all [of them] We made righteous. 72 And We made them leaders, guiding by Our command; and We revealed unto them the doing of good deeds and the establishment of prayer, and the giving of poor-rate; and of Us they were the worshippers. 73 And We gave Lut the kingdom and knowledge, and We rescued him from the township that committed vile deeds; indeed those evil people were disobedient. 74 And We admitted him into Our mercy. Verily he was of the righteous. 75
