And indeed Nuh (Noah) invoked Us, and We are the Best of those who answer (the request). 75 And We rescued him and his family from the great distress (i.e. drowning), 76 and We made his offspring the only survivors. 77 We perpetuated his praise in later generations. 78 Peace and salutation to Nuh among the nations. 79 Thus do We surely reward the doers of good. 80 Verily, he [Nuh (Noah)] was one of Our believing slaves. 81 We drowned the rest. 82 ۞ And indeed Ibrahim is from his (Nooh’s) group. 83 he came to his Lord with a sound heart. 84 "Behold!" he said to his father and to his people, "What are these that you worship? 85 Is it a falsehood-god beside Allah that ye desire? 86 What, then, do you think of the Sustainer of all the worlds?" 87 Then he cast a glance at the stars, 88 and said, "Verily, I am sick [at heart]!" 89 So they departed from him turning their backs. 90 Then he turned to their gods, and said, 'What do you eat? 91 What is the matter with you, why do you not speak?” 92 And he turned upon them striking them with the right hand. 93 Thereafter they (the people) came to him in haste. 94 He said, "Do you worship that which you [yourselves] carve, 95 And Allah has created you and what you make. 96 They said, "Construct for him a furnace and throw him into the burning fire." 97 So they tried to execute their evil scheme upon him – We therefore degraded them. (Allah saved him, by commanding the fire to turn cool). 98 He said: "I will go to my Lord! He will surely guide me! 99 “My Lord! Give me a meritorious child.” 100 So We gave him the glad tidings of a forbearing boy. 101 When he was old enough to go about with him, he said: "O my son, I dreamt that I was sacrificing you. Consider, what you think?" He replied: "Father, do as you are commanded. If God pleases you will find me firm." 102 Then, when they had both submitted themselves (to the Will of Allah), and he had laid him prostrate on his forehead (or on the side of his forehead for slaughtering); 103 We called out to him: "O Abraham, 104 You have fulfilled the dream (vision)!" Verily! Thus do We reward the Muhsinun (good-doers - see V. 2:112). 105 That was indeed a trying test. 106 And We rescued him in exchange of a great sacrifice. (The sacrifice of Ibrahim and Ismail – peace be upon them – is commemorated every year on 10, 11 and 12 Zil Haj). 107 And We left for him [favorable mention] among later generations: 108 Salamun (peace) be upon Ibrahim (Abraham)!" 109 Even so We recompense the good-doers; 110 Surely he was one of Our believing servants. 111 And We gave him the good news of Isaac, a Prophet and among the righteous ones. 112 And We showered Our blessings on him and on Ishaq; and of their offspring are the doers of good, and (also) those who are clearly unjust to their own souls. 113
