No, by the moon! 32 And the night when on the wane, 33 By the morning when it brighteneth. 34 Verily it is one of the greatest woes. 35 A warning unto humankind 36 to whoever among you desires to go forward, or lag behind. 37 Every soul is a pledge for its own deeds; 38 save the Companions of the Right; 39 who in their gardens will be enquiring 40 And (ask) of the Sinners: 41 What led you into the Scorching Fire? 42 They will say: "We were not of those who prayed; 43 “Nor used to feed the needy.” 44 We plunged in with the plungers 45 and the Day of Judgment we were wont to call a lie 46 "Until there came to us (the Hour) that is certain." 47 So no intercession will avail them. 48 Why now turn they away from the Admonishment, 49 As if they were affrighted asses, 50 fleeing before a lion? 51 Nay, every man of them desires to be -- given -- scrolls unrolled. 52 No, indeed they have no fear of the Everlasting Life. 53 No, indeed, surely, this is a Reminder. 54 Let anyone who seeks guidance do so. 55 And they will not mind unless Allah please. He is worthy to be feared and worthy to forgive. 56
