A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Alif Lam Mim Sad 1 [This is] a Book revealed to you, [O Muhammad] - so let there not be in your breast distress therefrom - that you may warn thereby and as a reminder to the believers. 2 (People), follow whatever is revealed to you from your Lord and do not follow other guardians besides Him. However, you pay very little attention (to Our words) 3 And many a township did We destroy – so Our punishment came to them at night or while they were sleeping at noon. 4 Therefore they uttered nothing when Our punishment came to them, except that they said, “Indeed we were the unjust.” 5 So undoubtedly We shall question those to whom Our Noble Messengers went, and indeed We shall question the Noble Messengers. 6 Then verily We shall narrate unto them (the event) with knowledge, for We were not absent (when it came to pass). 7 The balance that day will be true (to nicety): those whose scale (of good) will be heavy, will prosper: 8 and he whose scales are light -- they have lost their soul for wronging Our signs. 9 We established you in the land and provided you with a means of livelihood there: yet you are seldom thankful. 10
