Al-A 'araaf 13 of 24

Is it not a lesson for the successors of the past generations that had We wanted, We could have punished them for their sins, sealed their hearts and deprived them of hearing? 100 To those [earlier] communities - some of whose stories We relate to you - there had indeed come Messengers with clear proofs, but they would not believe what they had once rejected as false. Thus it is that Allah seals the hearts of those who deny the truth. 101 We found no (loyalty to any) covenant in most of them. Nay, most of them We found wrong-doers. 102 Then after them We sent Moses with Our signs to Pharaoh and his chiefs, but they wrongfully rejected them: So see what was the end of those who made mischief. 103 And Musa said: O Fir'awn! I am an apostle from the Lord of the worlds; 104 duty-bound to say nothing about God but the truth, and I have brought you a clear sign from your Lord. Let the Children of Israel go with me." 105 The Pharaoh asked Moses to show his miracles if he was telling the truth. 106 So he cast his staff; and behold, it was a serpent manifest. 107 And he drew out his hand, and behold! it was white (with radiance) for the beholders. 108
