The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Alif. Lam. Ra. THESE ARE MESSAGES of revelation - of a discourse clear in itself and clearly showing the truth. 1 How strongly the unbelievers will wish that they had been Muslims. 2 Let them eat and enjoy; and let their hopes deceive them, soon they shall know. 3 Never did We destroy a population that had not a term decreed and assigned beforehand. 4 No people can hasten on their doom nor can they postpone (it). 5 And they said, “O you upon whom the Qur’an has been sent, you are indeed insane.” 6 If you are a man of truth, why can't you bring the angels to us?" 7 We do not send down the angels (in frivolity); and when We do send them down, We do so with Truth; then people are granted no respite. 8 We Ourselves have revealed the Quran and We are its Protectors. 9 AND, INDEED, [O Prophet,] even before thy time did We send [Our apostles] unto communities of old 10 And never does a Noble Messenger come to them, but they mock at him. 11 Thus do We insert denial into the hearts of the criminals. 12 they believe not in it, though the wont of the ancients is already gone. 13 And even if We opened to them a gate from the heaven and they were to continue ascending thereto, 14 they would have said, "Our eyes are bewildered and we have been affected by magic." 15
