AND CALL to mind, through this divine writ, Abraham. Behold, he was a man of truth, [already] a prophet 41 [Mention] when he said to his father, "O my father, why do you worship that which does not hear and does not see and will not benefit you at all? 42 “O my father, indeed a knowledge has come to me which did not come to you therefore follow me, I will show you the Straight Path.” 43 Why do you worship Satan, O father? Verily Satan was disobedient to Ar-Rahman. 44 O my father! surely I fear that a punishment from the Beneficent Allah should afflict you so that you should be a friend of the Shaitan. 45 [His father] said, "Do you reject my deities, Abraham? If you do not desist, I shall surely stone you to death. Keep out of my way!" 46 [Abraham] said, "Peace will be upon you. I will ask forgiveness for you of my Lord. Indeed, He is ever gracious to me. 47 Now I will go away from you and that you call upon, other than Allah. I will call on my Lord. Perhaps I shall not be unblessed in calling my Lord' 48 So when he had separated himself from them and from what they worshipped besides God, We bestowed on him Isaac and Jacob, and We made each of them a prophet. 49 And bestowed on them some of Our blessings, and gave them high renown. 50
