And convey unto them the story of Abraham 69 When he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship?" 70 They said, "We worship idols, and we keep squatting in seclusion before them." 71 He said: "Do they listen to you when ye call (on them)?" 72 'Can they benefit you or harm you' 73 They said, 'Nay, but we found our fathers so doing.' 74 He said, "Then do you see what you have been worshipping, 75 you and your fathers, the elders? 76 "Now [as for me, I know that,] verily, these [false deities] are my enemies, [and that none is my helper] save the Sustainer of all the worlds, 77 Who created me and Who guides me; 78 He Who feedeth me and giveth me to drink. 79 who, when I am sick, heals me; 80 who makes me to die and then revives me, 81 And Who, I hope, will forgive me my mistakes on the day of judgment. 82 My Lord, bestow wisdom upon me; unite me with the righteous; 83 "And give me proper fame among the succeeding generations." 84 And make me of the heirs of the garden of bliss 85 "And forgive my father - for, verily, he is among those who have gone astray 86 Do not degrade me on the Day when they are resurrected. 87 The day on which property will not avail, nor sons 88 "Except he who presented himself before Allah, with a sound intact or unblemished heart." 89 For, [on that Day,] paradise will be brought within sight of the God-conscious, 90 and Hell advanced for the perverse. 91 It shall be said to them, 'Where is that you were serving 92 Instead of Allah? Can they help you or help themselves? 93 Then they will be thrown headlong into Hell, both they and the misguided ones, 94 and the hosts of Iblis - all together. 95 And they will say while they dispute with one another, 96 "By oath of Allah, we were indeed in open error." 97 "When we considered you equal to the Lord Of The Creation." 98 No one but the sinners led us astray. 99 So now we have no intercessors 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 "'Now if we only had a chance of return we shall truly be of those who believe!'" 102 Verily there is a sign in this, but many of them do not believe. 103 And lo, thy Lord! He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
