The Romans (Al-Room)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Alif Lam Mim. 1 The Romans have been conquered 2 In the neighbouring land. But having been conquered they will conquer 3 within a few years: [for] with God rests all power of decision, first and last. On that day the believers too will have cause to rejoice, 4 In the victory of Allah. He gives victory to whom He wills, and He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 5 This is Allah's promise; and Allah faileth not His promise. Yet most men know not. 6 They know only some appearance of the life of the world, and are heedless of the Hereafter. 7 Do they not reflect within themselves: Allah did not create the heavens and the earth and what is between them two but with truth, and (for) an appointed term? And most surely most of the people are deniers of the meeting of their Lord. 8 Have they not travelled through the earth that they may observe what was the end of their predecessors who were far mightier and tilled the land and built upon it more than these have ever built? And Allah's Messengers came to them with Clear Signs. It was not Allah Who wronged them, but it is they who wronged themselves. 9 Then the fate of those who committed evil to the extreme was that they denied the signs of Allah and used to mock at them. 10
