Have you heard the story of Abraham's honored guests? 24 When they came to him, they said: “Peace”; he said: “Peace also be to you; (you seem to be) a group of strangers.” 25 Then he turned quietly to his household, and brought forth a fat [roasted] calf, 26 He then presented it before them and said, “Do you not eat?” 27 (When they did not eat), He conceived a fear of them. They said, "Fear not," and they gave him glad tidings of a son endowed with knowledge. 28 Then his wife came forward, crying and beating her brow. She said, "I am surely a barren, old woman." 29 "Such is the will of your Lord," they replied. "He is the Wise, the All Knowing." 30 ۞ Abraham asked, "Messengers, what is your task?" 31 They said, "Indeed, we have been sent to a people of criminals 32 That we may send down upon them stones of baked clay. 33 marked with thy Lord for the prodigal. 34 Then We brought forth such as were therein of the believers. 35 And We found not therein more than one house of the Muslims. 36 and left therein a sign for those who fear the painful punishment. 37 In Moses, too, (there were signs). We sent him to Pharaoh with clear authority, 38 But Pharaoh turned away, showing arrogance on account of his power, and said (about Moses): “He is either a sorcerer or a madman.” 39 So We took him and his soldiers and cast them into the sea, and he was blameworthy. 40 And in the tribe of A’ad, when we sent a dry windstorm upon them. 41 It left out nothing in its path, but which it split up into fragments. 42 There is also a Sign for you in (the story of) Thamud. They were told: “Enjoy yourselves for a while.” 43 But they brazenly disobeyed their Lord's command, and then a sudden chastisement overtook them while they looked on. 44 And they were unable to rise up, nor could they help themselves. 45 The people of Noah who lived before them were also evil doing people. 46
