The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the mount 1 And a Scripture inscribed 2 In a Scroll unfolded; 3 by the Visited House, 4 and by the lofty vault of the sky, 5 And by the Ocean filled with Swell;- 6 VERILY, [O man,] the suffering decreed by thy Sustainer [for the sinners] will indeed come to pass: 7 and no one will be able to prevent it. 8 On the day when the heaven will heave with (awful) heaving, 9 And the mountains will pass on, departing - 10 On that Day woe to those who belied 11 Those who are playing in pursuits. 12 The Day when they will be pushed down by force to the Fire of Hell, with a horrible, forceful pushing. 13 This is the Fire which you used to belie. 14 What, is this magic, or is it you that do not see? 15 "Burn ye therein: the same is it to you whether ye bear it with patience, or not: Ye but receive the recompense of your (own) deeds." 16 Those who fear God and follow the straight path will surely be in gardens and in bliss, 17 Delighted at the bestowal of their Lord; and their Lord has saved them from the fire. 18 Eat and drink pleasantly for what you did, 19 The God-fearing shall be reclining on couches facing each other, and We shall wed them to maidens with large, beautiful eyes. 20 Those who believe, and whose descendants follow in belief, We will join their descendants to them. And We will not reduce them of anything of their deeds. Every one is pledged for what he has earned. 21 And We shall increasingly give them fruit and meat such as they desire. 22 There, they shall pass from hand to hand a cup which does not lead to any idle talk or sin. 23 ۞ And there go round, waiting on them menservants of their own, as they were hidden pearls. 24 And some of them draw near to others, questioning. 25 Saying: "We were also once full of fear at home. 26 Wherefore Allah hath obliged us, and hath protected us from the torment of the Scorch. 27 Verily, we did invoke Him [alone] ere this: [and now He has shown us] that He alone is truly benign, a true dispenser of grace!" 28
