[AND the tribe of] Thamud gave the lie to all [Our] warnings; 23 So they said: What! a single mortal from among us! Shall we follow him? Most surely we shall in that case be in sure error and distress: 24 Has the message been sent down upon him from among us? Rather, he is an insolent liar." 25 Ah! they will know on the morrow, which is the liar, the insolent one! 26 We are sending to them as a trial, a shecamel, so watch them and have patience. 27 And inform them that the water is shared between them, each [day of] drink attended [by turn]. 28 But they called their comrade and he took (a sword) and killed (her). 29 Then, how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 30 Then We sent a single blast against them and they became like dry stubble which has been trampled upon. 31 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? 32 The people of Lot rejected Our warning. 33 We loosed against them a squall of pebbles except the folk of Lot; We delivered them at the dawn -- 34 As a reward from Us; this is how We reward one who gives thanks. 35 And he [Lout (Lot)] indeed had warned them of Our Grasp, but they did doubt the warnings! 36 They demanded that he turn over his guests to them. We struck their faces, blinded them and said, "Suffer Our torment of which you were warned". 37 And indeed, abiding suffering did befall them early on the morrow: 38 "Taste, then, the suffering which I inflict when My warnings are disregarded!" 39 Hence, indeed, We made this Qur'an easy to bear in mind: who, then, is willing to take it to heart? 40
