1/2 Hizb 33
< random >
۞ We gave Abraham aforetime his rectitude -- for We knew him -- 51 Behold! he said to his father and his people, "What are these images, to which ye are (so assiduously) devoted?" 52 They answered: "We found our fathers worshipping them." 53 He said: Verily ye and your fathers were in plain error. 54 They said: 'Is it the truth you have brought us, or are you one of those that play' 55 Abraham replied, "Your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, who created them, and I bear witness to that. 56 "And by Allah, I shall plot a plan (to destroy) your idols after you have gone away and turned your backs." 57 He shattered them all, except the biggest among them, that perhaps they may question it. 58 They said: "Who has done this to our aliha (gods)? He must indeed be one of the wrong-doers." 59 They said: We heard a youth make mention of them, who is called Abraham. 60 They said: Then bring him (hither) before the people's eyes that they may testify. 61 (On Abraham's arrival) they said: "Abraham, are you he who has done this to our gods?" 62 [Ibrahim (Abraham)] said: "Nay, this one, the biggest of them (idols) did it. Ask them, if they can speak!" 63 So they returned one to another saying, 'Surely, it is you who are the harmdoers' 64 Then they reversed themselves, [saying], "You have already known that these do not speak!" 65 Said [Abraham]: "Do you then worship, instead of God, something that cannot benefit you in any way, nor harm you? 66 Woe to you for what you worship instead of God. Have you no understanding?" 67 They said, “Burn him and help your Gods, if you want to.” 68 We said: O fire! be a comfort and peace to Ibrahim; 69 And they desired a war on him, but We made them the greatest losers. 70 But We delivered him and (his nephew) Lut (and directed them) to the land which We have blessed for the nations. 71 And We gave him Isaac and Jacob in addition, and all [of them] We made righteous. 72 We appointed them as leaders to guide the people through Our command and sent them revelation to strive for good deeds, worship their Lord, and pay religious tax. Both of them were Our worshipping servants. 73 And We gave Lut the kingdom and knowledge, and We rescued him from the township that committed vile deeds; indeed those evil people were disobedient. 74 And We took him into Our mercy; surely he was of the good. 75
