The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ (Allah) Most Gracious! 1 Has taught (you mankind) the Quran (by His Mercy). 2 has created man, 3 and has taught him articulate speech. 4 The sun and the moon to a reckoning, 5 The stars and the trees prostrate themselves. 6 And the Firmament has He raised high, and He has set up the Balance (of Justice), 7 so that you [too, O men,] might never transgress the measure [of what is right]: 8 But observe the measure strictly, nor fall short thereof. 9 And He has set up the earth for all beings. 10 Therein is fruit and date-palms, producing spathes (enclosing dates); 11 And also corn, with (its) leaves and stalk for fodder, and sweet-scented plants. 12 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 13 He has created man out of sounding clay, like pottery, 14 whereas the invisible beings He has created out of a confusing flame of fire. 15 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 16 Lord of both the Easts, and Lord of both the Wests! 17 Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 18 He has set two seas in motion that flow side by side together, 19 Between them is a barrier, which they do not overrun. 20 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie? 21 From these seas come forth pearls and coral. 22 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 23 Also, His are the ships that run, raised up like mountains upon the sea. 24 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 25
