The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 abasing [some,] exalting [others]! 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 In gardens of delight; 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 and a few from later times. 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 And extended shade, 30 And water everflowing. 31 and abundant fruit, 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 And have made them virgins. 36 Lovers, friends, 37 For the fellows on the right hand. 38
