The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 a host of the ancients 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 And wide eyed houris 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 (Naught) but the saying: Peace, (and again) Peace. 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 and continuous shade, 30 And water poured out 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 And couches raised up. 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 and made them virgins, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
