Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ OH, THE LAYING-BARE of the truth! 1 How tremendous is the true event! 2 And what shall make thee know that which the Inevitable Calamity is. 3 Thamood and Aad belied the Clatterer. 4 So as for Thamud, they were destroyed by the overpowering [blast]. 5 And as for 'Aad they were destroyed by a wind, furious, roaring. 6 that He subjected upon them for seven nights and eight days consecutively and you might have seen them struck down as if they were the stumps of palm trees that had fallen down. 7 and dost thou now see any remnant of them? 8 The Pharaoh, those who lived before him and the people of the Subverted Cities all persisted in doing evil. 9 and they rebelled against the Messenger of their Lord, and He seized them with a surpassing grip. 10 When the flood rose high and covered the whole land, We carried you in the Ark. 11 That We might make it a memorial for you, and that remembering ears (that heard the story) might remember. 12 Then when the Horn is blown with one blast 13 and the earth and the mountains are carried aloft and are crushed to bits at one stroke, 14 on that Day shall that indubitable event come to pass; 15 and the heavens will be rent asunder, 16 And the angels will be on its sides, and eight will, that Day, bear the Throne of thy Lord above them. 17 On that day you shall be exposed, not one secret of yours concealed. 18 On that Day, he whose Record is given to him in his right hand will say: “Lo! Read my Record! 19 Verily I was sure that I would be handed over my account.” 20 Then he shall be in a life well-pleasing 21 In a lofty Garden 22 The fruit clusters of which are hanging down. 23 (And told:) "Eat and drink to your fill as reward for (good) deeds you had done in days of yore." 24 Then as to him who shall be vouchsafed his book in his left hand, he shall say: Oh! would that I had not been vouchsafed my book. 25 and neither known this my account! 26 O would that it had made an end (of me): 27 My wealth has been of no use to me. 28 There hath perished from me my authority. 29 'Take him, and fetter him, 30 then throw them into hell to be heated up therein. 31 then in a chain seventy arm's lengths long insert him. 32 He would not believe in Allah, the Most Great; 33 "And would not encourage the feeding of the indigent! 34 Today he has been left here friendless; 35 and has no food except the filth from the washing of wounds, 36 None shall eat it but the sinners. 37
