The Human (Al-Insan)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has there not been over Man a long period of Time, when he was nothing - (not even) mentioned? 1 Verily We created Man from a drop of mingled sperm, in order to try him: So We gave him (the gifts), of Hearing and Sight. 2 Indeed, We have guided him to the path, he is either grateful or ungrateful. 3 Lo! We have prepared for disbelievers manacles and carcans and a raging fire. 4 As to the Righteous, they shall drink of a Cup (of Wine) mixed with Kafur,- 5 This will be a gushing spring wherefrom Allah's servants shall drink wine, a spring from which they will take out channels wherever they wish. 6 They fulfil their pledges, and fear a day the evil of which is widespread. 7 They feed the destitute, orphans, and captives for the love of God, saying, 8 "We only feed you for the sake of God and we do not want any reward or thanks from you. 9 “Indeed we fear from our Lord a day which is extremely bitter, most severe.” 10 But Allah will deliver them from the evil of that Day, and will shed over them a Light of Beauty and (blissful) Joy. 11 and their reward for being patient will be a Garden and silk [clothing]. 12 Where they will recline on couches feeling neither heat of the sun nor intense cold. 13 And close upon them will be the shades thereof, and low will hang the clusters thereof greatly. 14 And amongst them will be passed round vessels of silver and goblets of crystal,- 15 Crystal-clear, made of silver. They will determine the measure thereof according to their wishes. 16 They will drink cups containing (soft flowing) sparkling water 17 From a spring by the name of Ever-flowing-Salsabil. 18 ۞ There boys of everlasting youth shall go about attending them: when you see them, you would think that they are scattered pearls. 19 Whitherto you look around, you will see an abundance of bliss and the glories of a great kingdom. 20 Upon them shall be green garments of silk and brocade; they are adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord shall give them to drink a pure draught. 21 Behold, this is a recompense for you, and your striving is thanked.' 22
