The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 Recompense fitted! 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
