He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 when the blind came to him. 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 To him you give attention. 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 And as to him who comes to you striving hard, 8 And hath fear, 9 you pay him no heed. 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 Woe to man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm! He creates and proportions him, 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 Then He caused him to die and be buried 21 Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again. 22 Yet man declines to do His bidding. 23 Let man look at his food: 24 We let the rain pour down in torrents 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 And grapes and herbage, 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 And thick gardens, 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 for you and for your animals to enjoy. 32 But when the great calamity comes 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 his mother, his father, 35 wife and sons, 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 Some faces will shine, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. 42
