He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The Prophet frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient 5 To him you give attention. 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 As for the one who comes to you earnestly (striving for guidance). 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 You neglect. 10 NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder: 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 (Written) by the hands of scribes- 15 Noble and pious. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 From what thing doth He create him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 then the way eased for him, 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 Then when He listeth, He shall raise him to life. 22 Nay, but man did not fulfil what Allah had enjoined upon him. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 and then We cleave the earth [with new growth,] cleaving it asunder, 26 We make the grain grow out of it, 27 And grapes and green fodder 28 And olives and date palms, 29 And garden-closes of thick foliage 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 on the Day when each man shall flee from his brother, 34 and his mother and his father; 35 As well as his wife and children. 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 laughing and joyful, 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 Dust shall cover them 41 those -- they are the unbelievers, the libertines. 42
God the Almighty always says the truth.
