He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 from a blind man who had come up to him. 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient 5 to him didst thou give thy whole attention, 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 but as for one who comes to you, eagerly 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 For any one who desires to bear it in mind, 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Noble and righteous. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 Then when He wills, He will resurrect him. 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 and let the earth to break open 26 And We made corn grow, 27 And grapes and clover, 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 And fruits and herbage 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 And his spouse and his son-- 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 On that day faces will be bright as dawn, 38 laughing and joyful, 39 but some faces will be covered with dust 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 Such will be the Rejecters of Allah, the doers of iniquity. 42
