The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun is overthrown, 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 And when the mountains are removed 3 And when the camels are left untended, 4 And when the wild animals are made to go forth, 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 when the souls are coupled (to their body), 7 And the little girl buried alive is asked 8 for what crime she was slain, 9 and when the scrolls of (men's) deeds shall be unfolded, 10 when heaven shall be stripped off; 11 and Hell is stoked, 12 and when paradise is brought into view: 13 then, each soul shall know what it has produced. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 orbiting, disappearing; 16 And by the night when it departeth, 17 and the first breath of morning. 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 The mighty, the honoured in the presence of the Lord of the Throne. 20 obeyed, moreover trusty. 21 Your companion is not possessed; 22 And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon. 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 The Quran is not the word of condemned satan. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 That is but an advice to the entire creation! 27 to everyone of you who wills to walk a straight way. 28 And you do not please except that Allah please, the Lord of the worlds. 29
