The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
(On the day) when the sun is made to cease shining, 1 when the stars are thrown down, 2 And when the mountains are made to pass away, 3 when the ten-months pregnant camels shall be abandoned, 4 the wild beasts are herded together, 5 And when the seas rise, 6 when the souls are divided into different classes, 7 And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was killed? 9 and when the scrolls of (men's) deeds shall be unfolded, 10 when heaven shall be stripped off; 11 And when the hell is kindled up, 12 And when Paradise is brought near, 13 A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]. 14 So verily, I swear by the planets that recede (i.e. disappear during the day and appear during the night). 15 Who move straight and stop. 16 And by the night when it departeth, 17 And by the dawn as it brightens; 18 That this is indeed the word of an honoured Messenger, 19 with strength endowed, secure with Him who in almightiness is enthroned 20 Obeyed one; then trustworthy. 21 Your companion is not one possessed: 22 And he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon. 23 nor does he grudge (conveying this knowledge about) the Unseen; 24 Nor is this the word of an outcast devil. 25 So where are you going? 26 Verily this is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds: 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills – the Lord of the Creation. 29
