The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun is wound up; 1 And when the stars fall, 2 the mountains are scattered about as dust, 3 And when the camels big with young are abandoned, 4 When the wild beasts are herded together (in the human habitations); 5 When the oceans boil over with a swell; 6 And when the souls he paired, 7 When the female (infant), buried alive, is questioned - 8 For what sin she was killed? 9 When the scrolls are laid open; 10 when heaven is stripped, 11 When Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when Paradise is brought near, 13 then every soul will discover the consequence of its deeds. 14 So I swear by the retreating stars - 15 the runners, the sinkers, 16 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 17 and the morn as it softly breathes: 18 Verily it is a Word brought by a messenger honoured, 19 Full of power, well-established (in position) with the Lord and Master of the Throne, 20 Obeyed one; then trustworthy. 21 And (O people!) your companion is not one possessed; 22 he truly saw him on the clear horizon; 23 he is not grudging of the Unseen. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 Where then are you going? 26 This is a reminder for all the peoples of the world, 27 (With profit) to whoever among you wills to go straight: 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
