The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Woe to those who give less [than due], 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, exact full measure, 2 but when they measure or weigh, give less. 3 Imagine such men not that they shall be raised up? 4 [and called to account] on an awesome Day 5 The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 No indeed! Verily the deeds of the wicked are in the Record locked up in the prison-house! 7 And what will explain to thee what Sijjin is? 8 It is a written book. 9 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 10 Who give the lie to the day of judgment. 11 and none cries lies to it but every guilty aggressor. 12 And when Our revelations are rehearsed unto him, he saith: fables of the ancients! 13 Nay! rather, what they used to do has become like rust upon their hearts. 14 Therefore they will be screened off from their Lord that day, 15 Then, verily they will indeed enter and taste the burning flame of Hell. 16 Then it shall be said to them, 'This is that you cried lies to.' 17 But, the record of the righteous is [preserved] in the 'Illiyyin -- 18 What could let you know what the 'Illiyoon is! 19 a written record, 20 Witnessed by those who are honoured. 21 Verily the virtuous shall be in Delight, 22 seated on couches and gazing around in wonder. 23 You will recognize in their faces the radiance of pleasure. 24 They will be given to drink [pure] wine [which was] sealed. 25 Whose seal is musk - for this let (all) those strive who strive for bliss - 26 And it is mixed with Tasneem. 27 a fountain at which the chosen ones shall drink. 28 Surely they who are guilty used to laugh at those who believe. 29 When passing by them, they would wink at one another 30 And when they went back to their people turned to make fun of them; 31 and when they saw them, they said [scornfully], "These men have surely gone astray," 32 But they (disbelievers, sinners) had not been sent as watchers over them (the believers). 33 So this day it is the believers who laugh at the disbelievers. 34 [for, resting in paradise] on couches, they will look on [and say to themselves]: 35 "Are these deniers of the truth being [thus] requited for [aught but] what they were wont to do?" 36
