The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
WOE UNTO THOSE who give short measure: 1 Those who when they take the measure from mankind demand it full, 2 And who, when they measure unto them or weigh for them, diminish. 3 Do they not realise that they will be raised to life 4 on a Great Day, 5 The day on which men shall stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 No! Indeed, the record of the wicked is in sijjeen. 7 What could let you know what the Sijjeen is! 8 it is a written record. 9 Woe on that Day to those who belied it, 10 Those who deny the Day of Judgment 11 No one denies it except for the evil aggressor. 12 [and so,] whenever Our messages are conveyed to them, they but say: "Fables of ancient times!" 13 No! Rather, the stain has covered their hearts of that which they were earning. 14 Therefore they will be screened off from their Lord that day, 15 Then lo! they verily will burn in hell, 16 Then it shall be said to them, 'This is that you cried lies to.' 17 Nay! Most surely the record of the righteous shall be in the Iliyin. 18 And what can make you know what is 'illiyyun? 19 The record is a sealed text. 20 witnessed by those who are near (to Allah). 21 The virtuous will live in bliss, 22 reclining on couches, reviewing (the bounties given to them). 23 You will recognize in their faces the brightness of bliss. 24 They shall be given to drink of a wine that is sealed, 25 Its seal is upon musk; and for this should those who crave be eager. 26 And its mixture is of Tasneem, 27 A spring, from (the waters) whereof drink those Nearest to Allah. 28 The sinners had been laughing at the believers. 29 and winked at one another as they passed them by. 30 and when they went back to their families, they went back jesting, 31 And when they saw them, they said: "They have indeed gone astray." 32 But they had not been sent as keepers over them! 33 Wherefore Today, those who believed at the infidels are laughing, 34 as they sit on couches, gazing around. 35 "Are these deniers of the truth being [thus] requited for [aught but] what they were wont to do?" 36
