The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Woe to the defrauders, 1 who, when people measure for them, take full measure, 2 But when they measure out to others or weigh out for them, they are deficient. 3 What! Do they not expect that they will be raised? 4 unto a mighty day 5 The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 Nay, but the record of the vile is in Sijjin - 7 What could let you know what the Sijjeen is! 8 A record [indelibly] inscribed! 9 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies, 10 those who deny the Day of Judgement. 11 and none cries lies to it but every guilty aggressor. 12 When Our Signs are rehearsed to him, he says, "Tales of the ancients!" 13 Nay! But on their hearts is the Ran (covering of sins and evil deeds) which they used to earn. 14 On the Day of Judgment, they will certainly be barred from the mercy of their Lord. 15 Then they shall roast in Hell, 16 They will then be told: "This is what you had denied." 17 No indeed! Verily, the deeds of the virtuous shall be in the record of the exalted ones. 18 Would that you knew what Illiyin is! 19 It is a written book, 20 To which bear witness those Nearest (to Allah). 21 Most surely the righteous shall be in bliss, 22 upon couches gazing; 23 You can trace on their faces the joy of their bliss. 24 Their thirst will be slaked with Pure Wine sealed: 25 The seal thereof will be Musk: And for this let those aspire, who have aspirations: 26 And the admixture of it is a water of Tasnim, 27 a fountain at which those brought near (to their Lord) drink. 28 Indeed, those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed. 29 and whenever they pass by them, they wink at one another [derisively]; 30 and whenever they return to people of their own kind, they return full of jests; 31 and when they saw them said: 'These are they who are astray' 32 Whereas they were not sent over them as watchers. 33 But on the Day [of Judgment,] they who had attained to faith will [be able to] laugh at the [erstwhile] deniers of the truth: 34 seated upon their couches, they are looking around. 35 Will not the Unbelievers have been paid back for what they did? 36
