Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ha. Mim. 1 CONSIDER this divine writ, clear in itself and clearly showing the truth: 2 Lo! We have appointed it a Lecture, in Arabic that haply ye may understand. 3 It is inscribed in the original Book (of Books) with Us, sublime, dispenser of (all) laws. 4 [O YOU who deny the truth!] Should We, perchance, withdraw this reminder from you altogether, seeing that you are people bent on wasting your own selves? 5 But how many were the prophets We sent amongst the peoples of old? 6 And never came there a Prophet to them but they used to mock at him. 7 so We destroyed those who were mightier than these; such was the example of the earlier peoples. 8 If you ask them, "Who has created the heavens and the earth?", they will surely answer, "The Almighty, the All Knowing One has created them." 9 (Yea, the same that) has made for you the earth (like a carpet) spread out, and has made for you roads (and channels) therein, in order that ye may find guidance (on the way); 10 And Who sends down water (rain) from the sky in due measure. Then We revive a dead land therewith, and even so you will be brought forth (from the dead), 11 It is He who has created everything in pairs and the ships and cattle for you to ride, 12 In order that you may mount firmly on their backs, and then may remember the Favour of your Lord when you mount thereon, and say: "Glory to Him who has subjected this to us, and we could never have it (by our efforts)." 13 And surely to our Lord we must return. 14 The pagans have considered some of His servants as His children. There is no doubt that the human being is simply ungrateful. 15
